WEEK WARMUP

This week started with a packed day but that wouldn’t stop me from doing another post. For starters, KZ performed at the University of the East for MYX’s Slam Jam then after dressing her for the said event, I had to run to Xander Angeles’ studio to style Vina Morales for a coffee table book she’s being featured in by GAOC.

On KZ: cotton and lace pullover, Folded & Hung. Leather shorts, Forever 21. Makeup by Anthea Bueno, Hair by Mark Familara
On Vina: Chambray top and distressed jeans, Forever 21. Nude pumps, Vina's own Christian Louboutin. Beauty by Krist Bansuelo

In other news, my friend Irving (as encouraged by who else, but my boyfriend, Koko) is trying to be the good influence to me for coming up with this bright idea of doing 360-fitness with him at least twice a week. I am honestly up for it but Lord, help me.

This thing – talking to myself (because I am 101% sure no one’s reading this area of the web) is getting pretty therapeutic. It’s very reassuring and enriching, I might do a post with videos soon! Haha

FLOOD FRIDAY

This scary typhoon called "Mario" has hit the region full-blast. Most of the people I know who normally don't experience the hassle that is living in flood-prone areas are now having water actually flow into their very homes. Since our building gate has already been taken over by this, the only choice we have is to stay indoors - that said, I cannot be more thankful for electricty, wi-fi and some stock food we have.

But more than this disaster, everyone's asking if the much-awaited Bench The Naked Truth show will push through. My guess is that is still will, and I am more than excited to see photos of my girls, Shaina and Julia working it.

Now, let me fondly sneak myself back into my bed again. Happy Friday and stay dry!

WEDNESDAY WORKDAY

I am honestly getting this weird feeling of being proud of myself for having this urge to write (or blog) again. Today was quite interesting - from the unpleasant Lourd De Veyra's nonsense article about the fashion industry,

to the fun and fabulous - I styled a new SM Beauty shoot featuring this new model Liga who is from Latvia.

Top: Liga wears a dark olive jumpsuit from Forever21, gold jacket from Vero Moda. Bottom: in a bespoke flouncy top by Sheiralyn Lim

In other news, my big brother, Meo is marrying the love of his life on December. I rarely do pre-nup shoots only because I find it hard to fit these days in my schedule plus location shoots would always have to have something extra for me to actually drag myself out there - these factors in mind, it only goes to show how special my family is to me -

Myself and my brother. 3 years in between. I practically grew up with this big man!

With his fiance, Dianne.

I cannot wait to see the final photos and for the wedding day to come!

Star Magic Ball 2014

Let me start big.

One of my favorite styling moments is the annual Star Magic Ball. Every year, a ton of actors and artists from ABS-CBN gather to celebrate the different career milestones they have with the different network bosses and their colleagues - also the perfect time to look and be at their best - hot bods and slamming personal style to be frank.

This time, I styled 4 special ladies - four different women with diverse personalities (and body types). That said, I took this as nothing but a perfect opportunity to kind of display how versatile I and my styling team are.

ERIN OCAMPO
Erin is a new face from Star Magic. Recently, she appeared on the popular fantasy series “Dyesebel” as one of the mermaids – arresting beauty, tight abs and all. So we thought, what better way to demonstrate her sexy physique than actually be the modern glam siren that she is. We collaborated with popular bespoke-designer Sheiralyn Lim of Haute Lifestyle Manila to create this two-piece white neoprene ensemble that shows just the right amount of sexy but keeps her look young and still, sophisticated.

On Erin: stringed bandeau and mermaid skirt by Sheiralyn Lim, suede leather minaudiere with black onyx clasps by Anna Rubio, Beauty by Ystilo Salon.

JULIA MONTES
This year, Julia went all hands-on into realizing this look for the ball - from the hairstyle down to the additional peplum train. Although we got mixed reactions from a lot of people, I really just love how Julia transforms from this bubbly but shy 19 year-old girl to this stunning beauty of a bombshell. She wanted her last teenage year in the ball to be memorable so we aligned with three unbreakable factors – vampy, youthful and sophisticated. I was super obsessed with how she looked that night; I kept saying how beautiful she was.

On Julia: black longsleeved deep-v back serpentina dress by Pepsi Herrera, diamond earring by Dina Castro, white snakeskin leather with frosted quartz and silver clasp minaudiere by Anna Rubio. Make-up by Ting Duque, Hair by Roviel Castor.

K BROSAS
Last-minute, the powerful diva-comedienne asked me to collaborate with designer Nat Manilag for a look she’s been dying to try. She wanted trousers for the ball that screamed non-conforming but classic. It took us 3 fittings to finally achieve the perfect look and I cannot be happier seeing how she worked it on the red carpet.

On K: white gazar peplum trained halter top and trousers by Nat Manilag, hologram leather with crystal quartz clasp minaudiere by Anna Rubio. Diamond ear cuffs by Arnel Papa. Beauty by Jackie Rivera

KZ TANDINGAN
My favorite look for the night, KZ embodies the women who are comfortable with the way they are. She’s my petite girl but when styled, feels and plays the part right away. I love how her look this year took a 360 degree-turn from the dark damsel that she was last year. Her dress was made also by designer Nat Manilag and I couldn’t be any happier with how it turned out.

On KZ: white neoprene and jersey strapless dress by Nat Manilag, Spiked belt by Eric Manansala, silver leather with quartz clasp mianudiere by Anna Rubio. Make-up by Anthea Bueno, hair by Mark Familara.

Just to share - here are 5Things I learned from the circus that is the SMB.

1. Comfort = Confidence. You client must be able to move around with what she's wearing. Do series of fittings to make sure that every nip/tuck is made in the proper areas of the dress.

2. Social media isn't worth it. Yes you put photos of your muses on instagram, to show their loving fans how they look but the moment the inevitable bashing comments happen, learn to stand your ground and just block & delete! (at least that's what I just do).

3. Less is more and be open to criticism while on the process of building the look. But, take opinions only from those whose say matter to you most.

4. Book a room in the hotel! My friends Em and Rain of TeamRainxEm booked a room and it gave them a super hassle-free experience

5. Trust your gut and be happy once you send them off the red carpet. Though it's easier said than done, I came into thinking that once they're there, there is nothing more to do than to just appreciate and thank God for another year of styling fun :)

START ANEW

Hi! My name is Myrrh, I am a fashion and celebrity stylist in the Philippines, and sure am not a newbie to blogging. I've started rambling online since 2004 (had about 9 blog titles since) but let's not even try tackling my posts back then.

This is another attempt to vent out my thoughts but this time, hopefully, in a more mature and professional approach.

About Me

Although there is, I believe, a term such as easy glamour, and the shoes do make or break the look, the person wearing it is always, really more important than the outfit.
